INSANE
BABBLING OF AN ANGRY MAN
This
world is really truly going mad. Now don't get me wrong,
I am fully supportive of intellectual property rights.
Heck, I even defend it religiously in several debates
on the subject. I even rely on it to protect my strips
(not that there are a lot of thefts of same anyway)
but there are some things that have gone quite wrong
with the system when the authorities exercise its discretion
as to when / how criminal sanctions are applied towards
offenders as opposed to an even handed and equal application
of law.
Now,
I may be wrong so please correct my understanding of
the facts if I am but I understand that a couple of
kids were sentenced to jail terms for uploading music
online while at the same time, the authorities let a
hacker off with a slap on the wrist when he stole Diablo
credits from a couple of players. To add insult to injury,
the authorities told the victims of the latter incident
to (I paraphrase), in essence,"grow up". What's
wrong with this picture?
